Meet the Staff

Timothy Howard
Executive Director

Tim has been with the Coutts since March 2017. Tim grew up between Rose Hill and Augusta, KS. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus in metalsmithing and jewelry from Kansas State University. After spending seven years in Japan, he returned to the Butler/Sedgwick area in 2008.

Tim has over 20 years of experience in both traditional and non-traditional educational programming. He served on the executive team at the Museum of World Treasures as the Programs Director, directing the exhibits, educational programs, and collections.

As the Executive Director, Tim has been involved in a little of everything at the Coutts, but his focus will be working with the board to form strategic plans, development at all levels, and the continued development of a professional and dynamic team.

Sheila Yrjanainen
Assistant Curator

Sheila has worked at the Coutts Museum of Art for three years.  Sheila takes her stewardship of the Coutt’s collection very seriously.  Each piece of art has an aesthetic as well as historical value to be preserved for future generations.  Incoming exhibits are treated with equal care.

Sheila graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an Art degree in 2008.  Her hobbies are art (any form), gardening, hiking, and exploring Kansas.  Sheila has also sheared sheep, made soap and candles, canned her own food and currently likes to sew unique outfits for work.

Madison McBee
Marketing and Membership Coordinator

Madison has been with the Coutts Museum of Art since December 2019 and has a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters Certificate in Public History from Emporia State University.

She has been fascinated by museum work since her first internship at the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita, and has since taken classes abroad, studying in museums throughout London and Paris, as well as interning at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC in the collections departments.

Madison does a little bit of everything, from coordinating memberships and installation of exhibits, to website design and marketing.
